Magna Mirrors has officially started construction on its new facility in Spartanburg County. A division of Magna International, one of the world’s largest suppliers in the automotive industry, Magna employs more than 2,400 South Carolinians. 

The first flights from new airline, Breeze Airways, are taking flight out of Charleston today. The company announced last week that Charleston International Airport will be included in its debut network of nonstop routes across the country, enhancing the state’s economic development marketability. 

With an estimated annual impact of $27 billion, the automotive industry is a major economic driver in the Palmetto State. To build on that growth and continue the advancement of the sector, the South Carolina Automotive Summit – which wraps up today – brings together top minds in the industry each year. This year’s summit, held virtually, provided an opportunity for leaders in the industry to discuss the latest business trends, share best practices and connect with automotive industry stakeholders.

A historic moment 20 years in the making. Team South Carolina’s reputation as an international business powerhouse received a big boost when SC Ports welcomed the first vessel to the Hugh K.

The federally supported Community Vaccination Center (CVC) is now open, and South Carolina’s business community is invited to participate. Located at Columbia Place Mall in Richland County, the CVC will be hosted from April 14 through June 9, 2021. The site is open 7 days a week, from 7am to 7pm daily.

The S.C. Commerce Workforce Development team today announced a new podcast series that will take an in-depth look at workforce opportunities for students in the Palmetto State.

Now that S.C. is in Phase 1b of its COVID-19 vaccination plan, frontline workers with increased occupational risk are able to make appointments for vaccines. To better equip companies to prioritize and prepare employees, S.C. Commerce recently teamed up with the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control and the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership to host a virtual information session for manufacturers. Approximately 800 attendees joined the interactive session and had the opportunity to ask questions to state health officials in real time.
