The Scrap Tire Research and Education Foundation, Inc. (STREF), the U.S Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) and the S.C. Department of Commerce partnered to host the 8th annual Scrap tire Recycling Conference this week in Greenville. 

As the scrap tire industry’s premier market developing and emerging trends conference, the event offers valuable opportunities for industry leaders, regulators and stakeholders to review key developments in scrap tire management. 

The Recycling Market Development staff at S.C. Commerce works diligently to advance and grow recycling initiatives and industry in South Carolina. This week, Team S.C. toured Carolina Canners, Inc. and EZ Products, LLC, both located in Cheraw, to learn more about each company's recycling initiatives and commitment to S.C.'s $13 billion recycling industry. 

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The South Carolina Department of Commerce hosted the 2019 S.C. Recycling Industry Forum on Thursday, May 23 at Segra Park in Columbia. More than 150 guests attended the event which featured recycling market updates, tools to find markets for hard-to-recycle materials and the opportunity to network with recycling experts, professionals and manufacturers working to increase recycling.

S.C. Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt spoke to the group about the critical role recycling plays in the state.

Today, Thursday, November 15 is recognized as National Recycling Day. Established more than two decades ago, this national day of observance encourages Americans to purchase and use recycled products. One group that works hard each and every day to advance this important effort is South Carolina’s Recycling Market Development Advisory Council.
