Lindoerfer + Steiner GmbH establishing new facility in Spartanburg County

U.S. headquarters and production operation expected to create 32 new jobs

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Lindoerfer + Steiner GmbH, a maker of packaging for automotive suppliers, is establishing its new North American production facility in Spartanburg County. The $400,000 investment is expected to generate 32 new jobs over the next five years.

“We are excited to take this step and set up our new North American operations in Spartanburg County. Our location in South Carolina not only provides us with a great business environment, but gives us close proximity to our customers. We appreciate all the support we’ve received from state and local officials,” said Peter Steiner, director and owner of Lindoerfer + Steiner GmbH.

Lindoerfer + Steiner GmbH will set up its U.S. headquarters and manufacturing operation, with associated national sales and distribution operations, in Spartanburg, located at 111 Corporate Drive. The company produces reusable packaging materials for high-value automotive parts for a number of clients, including Porsche, BMW, Daimler and Volkswagen.

“South Carolina continues to attract investments from companies from around the globe. We celebrate Lindoerfer + Steiner’s decision to invest and create 32 new jobs in Spartanburg. More and more companies are seeing South Carolina as the right place to do business,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.

Since January 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $5 billion in capital investment and more than 8,000 jobs in the automotive-related sector.

“Today’s announcement by Lindoerfer + Steiner GmbH brings another automotive supplier to our state and further strengthens South Carolina’s manufacturing base. We continue to see the benefits of BMW’s investment two decades later with job-creating investments like this one,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.

“The Economic Futures Group is pleased to welcome Lindoerfer + Steiner’s custom packaging and U.S. headquarters operation to the Spartanburg community. Lindoerfer + Steiner represent yet another example of international investment in our community. Spartanburg County has always maintained a strong relationship with Western Europe and we continue expanding on this relationship,” said Economic Futures Group Board Chairman Russ Weber.

“Companies such as Lindoerfer + Steiner GmbH are helping us prove to the world that the Upstate of South Carolina is a competitive global manufacturing center for businesses of all sizes. We are excited to welcome them as our newest business neighbor,” said Hal Johnson, president and CEO of the Upstate SC Alliance.

“Lindoerfer + Steiner’s decision to locate in Spartanburg is a testament to the attractive business environment the state has created for international firms. While known for attracting large German companies, South Carolina and Spartanburg economic development officials provide professional support to mid-sized German firms as well, making them feel like a welcome part of the business community,” said James Blair, managing director for the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern U.S. Inc.

The company will make an announcement at a later date about specific hiring plans.
