COLUMBIA, S.C. – October 6, 2011 – Continental Tire the Americas (CTA) today announced plans to build a new tire manufacturing plant in Sumter County to meet growing demand from both the retail level and automotive manufacturers. The $500 million investment is expected to generate 1,700 new jobs in South Carolina over the next 10 years.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – September 30, 2011 – JBE Inc., a supplier to the automotive, aerospace, and lawn and garden industries, today announced the addition of at least 20 new jobs at its Darlington County facility as a result of a new contract secured with Pure Power Technologies in Columbia.  The company also announced that it has acquired an AS9100 certification.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – WG Plastics Technology Corporation, a manufacturer of plastics and injection molded assemblies, is establishing operations in South Carolina with a new facility in Abbeville County. The $2.7 million investment is expected to create 50 new jobs over the next five years.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Autoneum, a global market leader in acoustic and thermal management solutions for vehicles, is expanding its Aiken County operations. This project will result in more than $35 million in capital investment and lead to the creation of more than 40 new jobs.

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Essex Weld Solutions, an international manufacturer of automotive racking products, is establishing operations in Cherokee County with Essex Weld USA Inc. The development will bring a capital investment of $2.6 million to the Upstate and create 70 new jobs.

Columbia, SC – Proper Polymers plans to build a new facility in Greenville County to manufacture injection molded components for the automotive industries. The development will bring $15.45 million in investment and lead to the creation of 87 jobs.

A division of Proper Group International, Proper Polymers Greenville will be building a 50,000-square-foot facility in Greenville County’s Matrix Park, expandable up to 100,000-square-feet. The company is a strategic supplier to large Tier 1 integrators.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) today announced the investment of $22.7 million in Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC) to expand facilities and improve operations in Gaffney, S.C.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Advanta Industries, Inc. (Advanta), a company that specializes in material handling applications, is expanding its existing Clarendon County facility, which operates as Advanta Southeast, LLC. The company is investing $2.6 million to create 26 new jobs over the next five years.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Akebono Brake Corporation, a leader in advanced brake and friction material development production, is expanding its existing Lexington County operations. The company is investing more than $40 million in the project, which is expected to create 100 new jobs in West Columbia, S.C. over the next five years.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Röchling Automotive USA LLP, a North American subsidiary of Rӧchling Automotive Group, is expanding its operations in Spartanburg County. The company is investing $5.8 million in the facility, which serves as its North American headquarters, creating 25 new jobs in Duncan, S.C.
