Recycling: US Fibers Recognized

At this year’s Industry Appreciation event, held last week in Columbia, S.C., US Fibers was selected to receive the Recycling Industry Excellence Award, which recognizes businesses for innovation and leadership in recycling. A manufacturer of recycled polyester fiber, US Fibers serves a wide range of industries, including automotive, filtration, construction, non-woven, home furnishings and geo-textile.

A longtime member of the Edgefield County business community, the company is also heavily involved in the region’s recycling community. Steve Zagorski, US Fibers’ vice president of New Business Development, serves as the South Carolina co-chair representative of the Carolina Plastics Recycling Council. He understands the importance of recycling to other sectors.

“Recycling fuels manufacturing,” said Zagorski upon accepting the award. “Today, fewer than 30 percent of plastic bottles are recycled in the United States. US Fibers is a user of post-consumer and post-industrial PET materials, and we depend on the voluntary efforts of citizens to supply the feedstock necessary to produce recycled fiber products.”

In January of this year, US Fibers announced an expansion of its Edgefield County facility, creating 20 new jobs and adding a new line of product offerings.
