Global business development: S.C. Commerce to welcome international team for visit

flags

With more than 1,200 operations of foreign firms in South Carolina, international companies have a significant footprint in the state. Foreign direct investment (FDI) plays a crucial role in cultivating South Carolina’s economy, accounting for $1.8 billion in recruited capital investment in 2021 – an increase for the first time since 2017. And, FDI is tracking 25% higher year-over-year.

To highlight South Carolina’s business-friendly environment and recruit international companies, S.C. Commerce utilizes a group of international team members representing the state’s economic interests across Europe and Asia.

Next week, the international representatives will visit South Carolina to meet with partners, state leaders, economic development stakeholders, and other groups from the public and private sectors. The week-long visit is an opportunity to build relationships, discuss best ways to recruit industry and market South Carolina abroad, increase trade and share the latest practices.
