South Carolina hosting international trade conference

Southeastern U.S. Canadian Provinces (SEUS-CP) meets in Myrtle Beach this May

COLUMBIA, S.C. – February 9, 2012 – The State of South Carolina will host the 5th Annual Southeastern U.S. - Canadian Provinces Alliance (SEUS-CP) trade conference in Myrtle Beach May 20-22. More than 300 Canadian and U.S. business and government leaders will connect at the Marriott Resort and Spa at Grand Dunes to promote trade and investment opportunities.

SEUS-CP is a formal, strategic partnership between states in the southeastern United States and member provinces from Canada. Delegations convene annually for a business-to-business conference. Highlights include opportunities for collaboration, commercial exchanges and increased two-way trade. The May program in Myrtle Beach will focus on opportunities for companies in advanced manufacturing, technology and green economy sectors.

Governor Nikki Haley will host the conference and New Brunswick’s Premier David Alward will co-host. David Wilkins, former United States Ambassador to Canada, will chair the business program and Andrea Feunekes, co-CEO of Remsoft based in Fredericton, will co-chair.

“The economic relationship between the Southeastern United States and Canadian Provinces has been a productive one for many decades and this conference will help expand business opportunities and new alliances,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.

“These conferences are a great opportunity to build linkages with key international leaders,” said South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. “In addition to the annual joint meeting, a robust B2B business matchmaking delegation program will connect participants across the 13 Alliance jurisdictions.”

SEUS-CP member U.S. states include Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Member Canadian provinces include Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.
