Honda of South Carolina expanding Florence County operations

Company investing $42 million to launch two new product lines

COLUMBIA, S.C.Honda of South Carolina Manufacturing, Inc., a company that specializes in the manufacturing of world-class all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and side-by-side (SxS) vehicles, is expanding its existing Florence County operations, with the addition of two new product lines – the Pioneer 1000 and the Pioneer 1000-5. The company is investing $42 million to launch the new lines, resulting in the creation of 44 new jobs.

Founded in 1948, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. is a Japan-based global leader in the production of automobiles, motorcycles and power equipment. With facilities on six continents, the company employs a total workforce of more than 200,000 worldwide. Honda’s Timmonsville plant is one of the company’s 16 major manufacturing facilities in North America and has produced more than 2.5 million ATVs, since it opened its doors in 1998.

Honda’s brand-new, full-size side-by-side models – the Pioneer 1000 and Pioneer 1000-5 – will feature class-leading displacement and payload, a 6-speed fully automatic Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) and a full list of features and options. Powered by a purpose-built inline, twin-cylinder, Unicam® 999cc engine, the Pioneer 1000 is offered in four different configurations, from the base three-person version to the deluxe five-person model, which features 14-inch aluminum wheels, 27-inch radial tires, LED headlights and electric power steering.

Every Pioneer 1000 comes standard with four-wheel-drive, as well as a high-low sub-transmission and 4-mode differential lock, while the five-person model features auto-leveling rear suspension and a full-size convertible bed with Honda's exclusive QuickFlip™ seating.
