GSE Lining Technology expands in Williamsburg County

$5 million investment will enable full product line production and create jobs

COLUMBIA, S.C. – GSE Lining Technology, a manufacturer of geosynthetic lining products, is expanding its current operations in Williamsburg County. The $5 million investment is expected to generate 24 new jobs.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to increase our footprint in Williamsburg County. South Carolina has been a great fit for our facility, providing us with a business-friendly climate and skilled talent. We appreciate the support we’ve received from state and local officials,” said Don Bohac, director of Manufacturing for GSE.

GSE Lining Technology’s facility in Williamsburg County currently produces geotextile fabric and synthetic drainage products used in waste management and precious metals mining, and a range of civil engineering applications. With this expansion, GSE Lining will be able to manufacture their complete line of geosynthetic clay liner products. The company is targeting May to complete the expansion.

“Today’s announcement is another win for one of our rural counties. We celebrate GSE Lining Technology’s decision to increase its footprint in Kingstree. I am committed to fostering a business climate where both new and existing businesses can find success,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.

In 2011, South Carolina recruited more than $4.7 billion in investment and more than 13,000 new jobs in the manufacturing sector.

“I have said before that South Carolina is a leader in the manufacturing renaissance. It is encouraging to see companies like GSE Lining Technology expanding and creating job options in South Carolina,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.

“We are truly proud that GSE Lining Technology is expanding in Williamsburg County,” said state Sen. John Yancey McGill. “They are wonderful corporate and environmental neighbors and partners, and their announcement of this expansion and the new jobs that come with it is certainly news to celebrate.”

“We are extremely pleased that GSE Lining Technology has chosen this important expansion in Williamsburg County. The project should bring extensive opportunities for the citizens of our community. The company’s investment and growth potential are two prime examples of quality economic development,” said Williamsburg County Supervisor Stanley S. Pasley. “We welcome the additional creation of jobs and increased tax base.”

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved a rural infrastructure grant worth $350,000 for the county to help with a rail spur to the facility. readySC will provide training for potential workers.
