Giti Tire plant supplier outreach event scheduled

Company moving forward with $560 million manufacturing facility

COLUMBIA, S.C.The South Carolina Department of Commerce, along with Chester County Economic Development, will be hosting a supplier outreach event for the Chester County Giti Tire plant project on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Richburg, S.C.

Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt alluded to the importance of the upcoming event, saying, “When a company decides to do business in the Palmetto State, we make a commitment to support them and encourage their success. Events like this supplier outreach event are a terrific example of that and a testament to the dedication of Team South Carolina.”

Announced in June 2014, Giti Tire is establishing a $560 million manufacturing facility, which is expected to create approximately 1,700 new jobs in Chester County. In July 2015, the company, along with general contracting firm Shimizu North America LLC, participated in a construction subcontractor outreach event aimed at providing potential subcontractors with project details, as well as information on the bid process.

This month, Giti will be participating in another outreach event. Targeting non-construction suppliers, the September 30 event will provide attendees with information regarding typical sourcing areas for a tire plant, as well as an overview of the company’s vendor registration process and its continued commitment to diversity.

Chester County Supervisor Shane Stuart spoke to the importance of the event saying, “The leadership of Chester County continues to work hard to create opportunities that improve our citizens’ prosperity and their overall quality of life.  Once again, we are proud to jointly host the Giti Vendor Outreach Event with the S.C. Department of Commerce.  Our sincere desire is to create an opportunity for our local vendors and service providers to meet with Giti Tire and tell them of their company."

Brian Singleton, chairman of the Chester County Development Association, echoed Secretary Hitt and Supervisor Stuart’s support for the event saying, “As the private partner in the ongoing business of economic development in Chester County, The Chester Development Association supports the upcoming Giti Tire Vendor Outreach Event. We want our local professionals to have every opportunity to present their skills to Giti Tire.”

Taking place at the Gateway Conference Center at 3200 Commerce Drive in Richburg, no RSVP is required to attend the event. For additional information, please contact Karlisa Parker at (803) 377-1216.
