Fruit of the Loom to double size of Berkeley County distribution center

Expansion expected to create 49 new jobs in Summerville

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Fruit of the Loom announced today plans to expand the company's Berkeley County distribution center. The addition will add 402,000 square feet to the current 350,000-square-foot building, more than doubling its size. The expansion is expected to create 49 new jobs by 2016 and will primarily help service Fruit of the Loom's growing e-commerce and intimates businesses. Fruit of the Loom, an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., currently is proceeding with the regulatory requirements necessary to move forward with the project. It expects to break ground on the expansion in September 2014 and be completed by August 2015.
