$3.5 million investment expected to create 30 new jobs
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Advanta Southeast, a maker of reusable packaging, will locate its new operating facility in Clarendon County. The $3.5 million investment is expected to generate 30 new jobs.
“Today’s announcement is a big step for our company and we look forward to starting operations in our new plant. South Carolina and Clarendon County offer us an excellent environment in which to do business, and we appreciate all the support we’ve received as we’ve moved forward with this project,” said Merle Grams, president of Advanta Southeast.
Advanta is locating a new production facility in an existing building in Clarendon County at 1799 Ram Bay Road. The 53,000-square-foot facility will allow the company to streamline its manufacturing process and expand its product line.
“It’s exciting to see a company like Advanta Southeast choose to set up new operations in one of South Carolina’s rural areas. We celebrate the company’s investment of $3.5 million and the creation of 30 new jobs in Clarendon County,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.
Since January 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $9 billion in capital investment and more than 23,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector.
“Today’s announcement is another feather in the cap for our state’s manufacturing sector. Every one of the new jobs created by Advanta will have an impact in Clarendon County,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
The company designs and produces reusable packing solutions for a number of clients, including General Motors, Ford, BMW, Lear and Yamaha, among others. Advanta already has a presence in Duncan, and expects the new facility to begin operations within the next month.

Stewart Jr. “We appreciate the confidence the company has placed in Clarendon County. Thirty jobs are very significant and I am sure our citizens will provide a good workforce. In addition, the company will use a building that has been idle for some time and it will be good to see activity there again.”
