As Team South Carolina seeks to build on the economic success we’ve had as a state, the exploration of new marketplaces for potential trade relationships is critical. One such area of opportunity just happens to be the destination for U.S. Commercial Services’ annual Trade Winds Conference and Mission – Southeast Europe.

South Carolina is a manufacturing powerhouse. From automobiles and textiles to aircraft and appliances and everything in-between, a wide range of products are assembled in South Carolina every day. To put it simply – the workers in this state are good at making things; and, as a result, the world has taken notice.

While 70 percent of the world’s purchasing power is located outside the United States, less than one percent of America’s 30 million companies export. In South Carolina, however, we’re experiencing an international trade renaissance. Last year, our exporters achieved a seventh consecutive record year in export sales, topping $31 billion for the first time.

In an effort to build trade and investment relationships around the world, S.C. Commerce routinely leads mission trips to various countries, allowing our state and its businesses to take advantage of the opportunities that exist beyond our borders.

Recognizing this, the S.C. Department of Commerce’s International Strategy and Trade Division meets regularly with industry leaders and other allies from across the globe to showcase all that the Palmetto State has to offer.
