Message from Secretary Hitt: A proud history in manufacturing

"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much." Those words by American educator and advocate Helen Keller ring true today with how we're approaching economic development in South Carolina. It takes all of us working together - Team S.C. - to move our state and economy forward.

And, that team-first approach is paying off in South Carolina's manufacturing sector. From premium automobiles to wide-body aircraft, S.C. produces some of the most complex products in the world.

To continue the advancement of our manufacturing sector, the South Carolina Manufacturing Conference and Expo, which took place this week in North Charleston, highlighted the latest trends and insight from industry leaders. The conference, presented by the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership, SC Biz News and SC Aerospace, featured more than 250 exhibitors, the Salute to Manufacturing Awards Luncheon, the Aerospace Luncheon and more.

Additionally, S.C. Commerce and SC Aerospace teamed up to host a B2B matchmaking event during the conference. More than 100 exhibitors and other qualified companies had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with representatives from original equipment manufacturers and tier one suppliers.

The connections and relationships built through events like the South Carolina Manufacturing Conference and Expo are key to remaining on the cutting-edge of industry. South Carolina has a proud history in manufacturing, and we are committed to working together, as a team, to continue to build on that momentum.
