Last year alone, Team S.C. announced 75 expansion projects within our borders, creating more than 5,000 new jobs and accounting for $2 billion in capital investment. And, just this week, DHL Supply Chain announced the company is growing its South Carolina footprint with a new, more than $92.7 million facility in Cherokee County, which is creating 249 new jobs.
These successes are a key element of South Carolina’s economic story. They tell the world that the Palmetto State is a place where businesses can not only find success, but thrive.
That’s why S.C. Commerce has a team focused solely on firms already established within our borders. Our Existing Industry team works each and every day to provide customized assistance to companies, including resource referrals and company visits to discuss the overall health of businesses. In fact, the team conducted a record high 778 business engagements in 2020, consisting of both site visits and virtual business consultations.
From automotive to aerospace, logistics to life sciences and everything in-between, South Carolina would not be the industry powerhouse we are today without the sustained success of our existing industry.
