When companies are looking for the perfect location, it’s a lot like looking for a house. Will it fit the company’s needs? Can the company grow in that location?
That’s where programs like LocateSC can help. LocateSC is an online platform that connects prospective industries with available properties in all regions of the state. Simplifying the search to help companies locate available industrial sites, buildings and office space, it also allows economic development organizations and property owners to register new properties in the listing database – at no charge.
To make the tool even more resourceful in today’s virtual world, S.C. Commerce launched a drone video grant program last year to ensure the state’s inventory remains available and visible.
Eligible counties were able to apply for grants to assist with the creation of videos for communities’ most marketable sites. The videos showcase site assets including location specs; highway, air, rail and shipping access; labor force data; and water, sewer and gas information.
Since the inception of the grant program, S.C. Commerce has approved the creation of more than 200 videos, and 55 of those were approved in a second round of funding this summer. These, along with other videos already highlighting South Carolina sites, can be viewed on the LocateSC website by using the search tool.
Having easy access to marketable sites is imperative to recruiting industry. And, as more videos are added to this helpful tool for companies, Team S.C. further demonstrates it is ready for business both in-person and online.
