Polydeck Screen Corporation expanding operations in Spartanburg County

$7 million investment expected to create 32 new jobs

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Polydeck Screen Corporation, a producer of systems for materials screening operations in the aggregate, coal and mining industries, today announced that the company will expand its current operations in Spartanburg County. The $7 million investment is expected to generate 32 new jobs.

“Polydeck chose Spartanburg County as the location for its headquarters in 1978, and we have been blessed with steady growth since that time. We appreciate the positive economic environment, the availability of a talented workforce and the cooperation of county officials that have enabled us to consistently expand our operations, and we look forward to continued growth here,” said Peter Freissle, president of Polydeck.

The company’s expansion includes the acquisition of a neighboring facility on Dewberry Road. The company will add several pieces of state-of-the-art equipment, including a water jet, a CNC router and several injection molding machines in order to produce a new line of screen media products.

“While we work hard to recruit investment from new companies to South Carolina, it’s equally important to help our existing businesses grow. When established companies like Polydeck expand, it is a sign our economic development efforts are on the right track. We celebrate Polydeck’s $7 million investment and the creation of 32 new jobs in the Upstate,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.

Since January 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $7 billion in capital investment and more than 17,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector.

“Our state’s manufacturing engine keeps steaming along and today’s announcement by Polydeck is the latest example. South Carolinians know how to make things. Our state’s workforce talent, along with our business-friendly climate, helps companies prosper and grow,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.

Since opening its doors in 1978, Polydeck has been able to expand its Spartanburg operations five times in order to keep up with growing demand for its products.

“We are pleased Polydeck, a long-time corporate citizen of Spartanburg County, is growing their operation here. Polydeck’s investment in machinery and the creation of these additional jobs, along with their 34-year history of supporting the community is greatly appreciated. We are always excited when existing companies grow, confirming Spartanburg County as an excellent location to do business,” said David Britt, chairman of Economic Development Committee of Spartanburg County Council and Economic Futures Group board member.

The company is hiring as needed for the new positions being created.  Anyone interested in job opportunities with the company should visit Polydeck’s careers page on the company website to see a list of current hiring needs.
