Jon Baggett

Jon Baggett, CEcD, serves as the deputy director of Global Business Development at the South Carolina Department of Commerce. In this role, he oversees the state’s international offices and recruitment activities related to attracting new foreign direct investment to South Carolina. With more than 20 years of economic development experience, Jon has worked with companies such as AESC, Scout Motors, Michelin, Lockheed Martin, GE, Robert Bosch, Mark Anthony Brewing, E&J Gallo, Mercedes, Evonik, Oshkosh Defense, BP and many others in establishing or expanding their operations in the state. Throughout his career, he has helped facilitate the creation of nearly 22,000 new jobs and $12 billion in capital investment across South Carolina.

Prior to joining SC Commerce in 2014, Jon served as the director of economic development at Dorchester County, SC.

Jon holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor’s degree from Presbyterian College. He earned the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation from the International Development Council in 2013, the same year he was named one of Development Counsellors International’s 40 under 40 Rising Stars in Economic Development. In 2017, Presbyterian College recognized Jon as its Outstanding Young Alumni.
