Schneider Electric success story Powering innovation in energy management and automation
Schneider Electric is a global industrial technology leader, producing energy-efficient and sustainable solutions for customers in 150 countries. A consortium member of South Carolina Nexus for Advanced Resilient Energy (SC NEXUS), Schneider Electric is committed to supporting advanced energy generation, transmission, distribution and storage in South Carolina and advancing the clean energy transition nationwide.
Expanding and innovating in South Carolina
Over the last 10 years, Schneider Electric has made a total investment of almost $1 billion in South Carolina, and they continue to expand operations. Currently, they have two major manufacturing and assembly facilities in South Carolina. The Richland County facility manufactures low-voltage switchboards, draw-out gear and breaker cradles. The Oconee County location produces controllers, switchgear and motor control centers. To fill these technically-specific jobs, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to both projects.
Committed to energy efficiency
Managing the cost of heating, cooling and lighting a manufacturing facility can be a challenge. In 2018, the Schneider Electric team began analyzing the energy use from the Seneca plant’s building systems using its own EcoStruxure™ Building Advisor solution. This cloud-based data storage system program automatically reviewed usage and provided recommended improvements for sequence of operation and energy use at the Seneca plant. These improvements realized an 83% decrease in avoidable energy costs related to HVAC operations.
We continue to invest here — you should too.
