Incentives
Through a range of incentives tied to job creation, capital investment, workforce development and community impact, SC Commerce works to reduce operating costs and reward investment in growth.
Job tax credit
A statutory tax credit available to qualifying new and expanding companies that create and maintain net new full-time jobs in South Carolina. Credit value varies based on the number of jobs created and the county where they are located.
Investment tax credit
Qualifying manufacturers may receive an income tax credit equal to 0.5% to 2.5% of the cost of eligible manufacturing and productive equipment, depending on the property’s recovery period.
Opportunity Zones
The Opportunity Zone (OZ) program is a federal initiative designed to encourage economic development and job creation through long-term private investment in designated low-income urban and rural communities.
Grants
SC Commerce administers grant programs that help local governments, organizations and businesses improve or enhance their infrastructure, regional development, innovation, export growth and rural opportunity. Eligibility requirements vary by program.
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
Provides grants to eligible local governments that do not receive CDBG funding directly from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. Funding can support community infrastructure, public facilities, neighborhood revitalization and economic development projects.
Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC)
Supports eligible projects in South Carolina’s Appalachian counties that strengthen infrastructure, workforce capacity, economic opportunity and quality of life.
Southeast Crescent Regional Commission (SCRC)
Invests in eligible projects across South Carolina’s portion of the Southeast Crescent region, with priorities spanning infrastructure, workforce, healthcare access, housing, conservation and economic opportunity.
