Eaton Corporation success story Helping businesses manage power more effectively
Eaton, a longtime South Carolina employer and global leader in intelligent power management technologies, is investing in Union County to increase US production of its three-phase transformers. Three-phase transformers support grid modernization and are critical in providing secure and reliable distribution of power. Eaton’s new Jonesville manufacturing site will help address a transformer shortage and meet heightened electrical power demand.
Expanding a South Carolina footprint
Eaton has been part of South Carolina since 1958, and by converting an existing site in Jonesville, the company will establish its 11th facility in the Palmetto State. This 861,000-square-foot manufacturing plant will employ 700 people and is expected to open in 2027. The $340 million South Carolina investment will bring their total North American manufacturing investments in electrical solutions to more than $1 billion since 2023.
A commitment to our communities
Eaton has created opportunities for thousands of families, investing in workforce training and establishing a strong career pipeline for current students and future generations. One example of this is the readySCTM program. Eaton facilitated a partnership with Spartanburg Technical College to develop a specialized coil-winding training program aligned with Eaton’s specific manufacturing workforce needs. To support Eaton’s current expansion, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits and awarded a $10 million Rural Infrastructure Fund grant to Union County to assist with the costs of building improvements.
We’re grateful for the strong collaboration and support in South Carolina, where we have a long history of manufacturing and innovation. Eaton is continuing to increase production and add jobs there and across the US to support affordable, reliable and clean energy.
