Small Business Regulatory Review Committee

Who makes up the SC Small Business Regulatory Review Committee?
The Committee is made up of 11 business owners who volunteer their time to review regulatory issues impacting small businesses across the state. Working alongside state agencies and the General Assembly when necessary, the Committee helps identify opportunities for alternative approaches when regulations may create unnecessary burdens for small businesses.

For existing regulations, the Committee may:

- Submit an evaluation report and the agency’s response to the Speaker of the House and President of the Senate for consideration by the General Assembly.
How were the Committee members appointed?
The Committee includes 11 South Carolina business owners appointed by state leadership:
- Five members appointed by the Governor
- Three members appointed by the President of the Senate
- Three members appointed by the Speaker of the House
The chairs of the SC House and Senate Labor, Commerce and Industry Committees, or their designees, also serve as nonvoting ex officio members.
