Southern Paint and Powder Coating Inc. locates in Chesterfield County

Investment expected to create new jobs

COLUMBIA, S.C. – February 21, 2012 – Southern Paint and Powder Coating Inc. (SPPC) today announced plans to locate its new facility in Chesterfield County. The $845,000 investment is expected to generate 13 new jobs.

“We are pleased to establish our new plant in South Carolina. Chesterfield County offers us an exceptional business environment as well as a great location from which to serve our customers, both old and new. We appreciate the support we’ve received from both state and local officials as we’ve moved forward on this project,” said Ernest Jordan, president of Southern Paint and Powder Coating Inc.

Southern Paint and Powder Coating Inc. will establish a new coatings facility in Pageland. The company specializes in the application of liquid paint and powder coatings for OEM manufacturers in the truck, construction and school bus markets. 

“We welcome Southern Paint and Powder Coating to South Carolina and celebrate the new jobs they will create in Pageland. We work every day to bring investment to our state and it is always exciting to see companies choose to establish themselves in one of our rural areas,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.

Southern Paint and Powder Coating Inc. will setup its operation in the former Eagle Springs Water Company facility at 608 Usher Street. The company expects to begin operations in the new facility in the fall.

“Small businesses are vital to South Carolina’s economy, especially in rural areas. It’s great to see Southern Paint and Powder Coating join our small business community. Every one of these new jobs will have an impact in Pageland,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.

“We are extremely pleased that Southern Paint and Power Coating Company chose to locate in Chesterfield County. We are excited they will revitalize the former Eagle Springs Water facility in Pageland. The addition of this investment continues to demonstrate Chesterfield’s ability to attract manufacturing operations and highlights the role our competitive business climate plays in recruiting companies,” said Chesterfield County Councilman Eddie Rivers.

Brenda Workman, executive director of the Chesterfield County Economic Development Board, added “We welcome the announcement by SPPC. The manufacturing community in Chesterfield County is extremely important to our prosperity. We look forward to providing support as they ramp up production.”
