SC entrepreneurs get opportunity to pitch business ideas to investors

Program helps entrepreneurs connect with actual investors and enhance their ability to raise capital

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Leadership from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) joined other local, state, and federal officials on May 1 at the Venture Carolina Center for Entrepreneur Education in Greenville, S.C., where the group witnessed a robust pitch session between local entrepreneurs and angel investors.

Recently, ARC invested $137,000 in the Venture Carolina Center for Entrepreneur Education to help develop 80 entrepreneurial workshops and attract an additional $2 million in leveraged private investment for the area. ARC’s mission is to innovate, partner and invest to build community capacity and strengthen economic growth in Appalachia.

Their shared initiatives create synergies between state and federal efforts through the South Carolina Department of Commerce Office of Innovation Startup Fuel Challenge grant series.

Announced in 2018, Venture Carolina used the funds to establish the Venture Carolina Pitch Lab. A first-of-its-kind resource for the state, the Pitch Lab is a venue where entrepreneurs can connect with actual investors and enhance their ability to raise capital.
