Non-Essential Business Listing
Governor McMaster has directed the incremental modification of “Non-Essential” business closures.
Effective June 12, 2020, bowling alleys are allowed to open. In Governor McMaster's announcement, restrictions on the occupancy of retail establishments are also lifted.
Effective May 22, 2020, attraction facilities will be permitted to re-open.
Effective May 31, 2020, youth and adult sports leagues will be allowed to begin practicing and resume competitive play on June 15, 2020.
Effective May 18, 2020, close contact service providers, fitness and exercise centers, commercial gyms and public or commercial pools included in Gov. McMaster’s announcement were allowed to re-open in a limited capacity.
The “Response” component of accelerateSC, with advice and recommendations from the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, has developed general guidelines for attractions, athletic fields and sports, charitable bingos, day camps and close contact service providers, bowling alleys, along with specific guidelines for cosmetology establishments, gyms and fitness centers and public or commercial pools.
Retail stores identified by Executive Order 2020-28 were able to re-open effective April 20, 2020. Entertainment venues and facilities will remain temporarily closed.
The list of Non-Essential Businesses is as follows:

1. Entertainment venues and facilities
- Night clubs
- Concert venues
- Theaters, auditoriums and performing arts centers
- Adult entertainment venues
2. Recreational and athletic facilities and activities
Restaurants can operate dining rooms at no more than 50% of permitted occupancy and must space tables 6-8 feet apart.
Businesses must also implement all reasonable steps to comply with sanitation guidelines of the CDC, DHEC or any other state and federal public health officials.
Current Business Clarification Lists
Businesses are responsible for monitoring the issuance of Executive Orders that may alter their prior designation as "essential." These lists will be updated daily at 9 a.m.

The "essential" designation for the businesses included in the list below was clarified by SC Commerce prior to the April 3 issuance of Executive Order 2020-21 and, accordingly, may require further verification.
