Event Exception Process
Updated August 5, 2020
SC Commerce, in close consultation with DHEC, is managing an exception process specific to events where more than 250 guests are expected, as outlined in the recent executive order. These events will be required to satisfactorily demonstrate an ability to comply with federal and state COVID-19 procedures and protocols. This process will be managed via an online portal, and the link is at the bottom of this page.
PLEASE READ BEFORE PROCEEDING
The CDC offers a readiness and planning tool for event planners and administrators to help protect staff, volunteers and attendees and slow the spread of COVID-19. This tool aligns with the Considerations for Events and Gatherings and the Event Exception Request Form you are asked to complete. The tool includes the following:
- General Readiness Assessment
- Preparing for If Someone Gets Sick
- Daily/Weekly Readiness Assessment
- Actions and Resources
We encourage events planners and administrators to review and complete the general readiness assessment while working with state and local officials as part of making initial preparations before filling out the exception request form, so you are prepared to help promote healthy behaviors, environments and operations that reduce the spread of COVID-19. Implementation should be guided by what is feasible, practical, acceptable and tailored to the needs and context of each community.
